Wow! I can't believe how fast the year is flying by and that it's already almost time for Thanksgiving break!
4th grade has already completed their digital citizenship unit and has been doing a few assignments through my Wolab Google Classroom that they joined. One of these was to research the origins of their family last name to help us remember at Thanksgiving that all of our families, unless Native American, originally came here from somewhere else. Students really enjoyed finding out their countries.
3rd grade has been concentrating on keyboarding skills. This week, they are finding out what "personification" is and completing a Thanksgiving Turkey personification poem generator. There was quite a bit to this, as they had to complete the text boxes, generate the poem, copy it, then paste it into a Word document to continue working on it!
2nd grade has alternated playing a variety of games, and either working on a document that they download and complete, or opening and completing a new blank document. They are getting pretty good at this!
1st grade has recently started playing a game called Teach Your Monster to Read. They have learned how to log in with a username and password! They really enjoy this educational game which works on letters, sounds and reading all while having fun!
Kindergarten has learned a lot about using their computers and have learned a variety of games. Their most recent game is a fun and educational game called ABCMouse. They love earning tickets for completing games, puzzles, coloring pages, books and more!
I am looking forward to doing the Hour of Code in December with all my classes.
The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.
Try it--it's fun!
